ILLI Presenters
Teresa Neely
Teresa Y. Neely is currently Director of Zimmerman Library at the
University of New Mexico. She previously served as Head of Reference
at the Albin O. Kuhn Library & Gallery at the University of Maryland
in Baltimore County and as adjunct professor in the College of
Information Studies at the University of Maryland in College Park.
There she led efforts to develop and implement a system-wide
information literacy program.
Dr. Neely holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from
South Carolina State College (now University), and received her
M.L.S. and Ph.D. degrees (Library and Information Science) from the
School of Information Sciences, University of Pittsburgh, PA.
Terrence Mech
Terrence F. Mech has been Director of
the Library at King's College, Wilkes-Barre, PA since 1982. He was
the College's Vice-President for Information and Instructional
Technologies for seven years (1994-2001). Currently, he serves on
the Vice President for Academic Affairs' Academic Team and the
College's Self-Study Steering Committee as the Vice Chair for
Strategic Planning. Dr. Mech was a member of the Middle States
Commission on Higher Education Advisory Panel on Information
Literacy that prepared Developing Research & Communication
Skills: Guidelines for Information Literacy in the Curriculum
(2003). He has served on Middle States Evaluation Teams since 1987.
Dr. Mech holds graduate degrees from Pennsylvania State University
(higher education-1994), Clarion State College (library
science-1979), and Illinois State University (sociology-1978).
Faye Watkins
Since October
2007, Faye Watkins has served as the Director of the Library at
Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia. From January 2006 until
October 2007, she served as the Director of the Library at Johnson
C. Smith University. Prior to becoming Director of the Library at
Johnson C. Smith University, Faye served as the Collection
Development Librarian and Associate Director. Faye received her
Master of Library and Information Science degree and Master of Arts
degree with a concentration in English Literature from the
University of South Carolina in 1998.
Donna Gunter
Donna Gunter is
the Coordinator of Information Literacy and Instructional Services
at J. Murrey Atkins Library, University of North Carolina at
Charlotte. A librarian for 16 years, she worked previously at the
University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Prior to her career as a
librarian, she was a first-year writing teacher. Donna has a Master
of Library and Information Science from the University of South
Carolina and a Master of Arts in English from Clemson University.
Presently, she is a student in the Curriculum and Instruction Ph.D.
program at UNC Charlotte.
Rosalind Tedford
Rosalind Tedford has been the Information Literacy Librarian at the
Z. Smith Reynolds Library of Wake Forest University since October
2004. She manages the library's for-credit information literacy
classes which has grown from three sections a semester to twelve,
all of which are full to overflowing. From 1998 to 2004 she was the
head of the Information Technology Center at the ZSR Library where
she was in charge of all student and faculty technology training for
the University. She is a graduate of the North Carolina Master
Trainer Program and has degrees from Wake Forest (BA
English/Psychology 1991 and MA English 1994) and UNC-Greensboro (MLIS
1998).
Jill Gremmels
Jill Gremmels is
the Leland M. Park Director of the Davidson College Library in
Davidson, North Carolina. From 1994 to 2007 she was College
Librarian at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, one of ten
institutions invited to the Best Practices in Information Literacy
Conference in 2002. A longtime promoter of information literacy,
she and her Wartburg colleagues established Information Literacy
Across the Curriculum as a component of Wartburg’s general education
program. Their library-wide mission of educating
information-literate lifelong learners guides all library activities
and services. She has published on information literacy and
reference, led workshops, and done consulting work at a variety of
colleges and universities. She previously served as library
director at Monmouth College (IL) and coordinator of public services
and reference librarian at DePauw University (IN). She holds the
B.A. degree from Wartburg College and the M.L.S. from the University
of Maryland.
Lynn Cameron
Lynn
Cameron earned a Master of Science in Library Science from
University of Kentucky and a Master of Arts in Curriculum and
Instruction from West Virginia University. She serves as Coordinator
of Library Instruction and Liaison Librarian for Psychology and
Geographic Science at James Madison University, Harrisonburg, VA. Lynn holds the rank of Professor in Libraries
and Educational Technologies. Lynn coordinated the development of Go
for the Gold and the Information-Seeking Skills Test for General
Education Cluster One and has collaborated for two decades with
psychology faculty to plan and deliver information literacy
instruction. Her research interests include information literacy
instruction and assessment. Lynn has led faculty
workshops outside the University on developing effective information
literacy assignments.
Amanda Townsend
Amanda Townsend is Instructional Services Librarian at James B.
Duke Memorial Library, Johnson C. Smith University. She has been a
librarian for seven years and had worked previously as either a
student or paraprofessional in libraries since 1981. Amanda has a
Master of Library and Information Science degree from the University
of Oklahoma, Norman, OK. She also has a Master of Leadership and Higher
Education Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Fine and Applied Arts
from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC.
Andrea Hylton
Andrea Hylton is Systems
Librarian and Library Webmaster at the James B. Duke Memorial
Library, Johnson C. Smith University. She received a Bachelor of
Science degree in Library Science and Educational Media from James
Madison University, and a Master of Library Science degree from
North Carolina Central University. Andrea has seventeen years experience,
predominately
in special libraries in the Washington, DC metro area, and locally
with Wachovia Capital Markets and Duke Energy before coming to JCSU
in 2003. Presently, she is pursuing a post-graduate, Education
Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in Instructional Technology at Virginia
Tech.
Michelle
Orr
Michelle Orr is the Digitization Librarian for the James B. Duke
Memorial Library of Johnson C. Smith University and for the past
year she has been managing the digitization of the Inez Moore Parker
Archives. Prior to her current position, Mrs. Orr served as a
librarian for the Florida Community College at Jacksonville and
began her professional career with the Jacksonville Public Library.
She received her B.A. in Anthropology from the University of South
Carolina and her M.L.I.S. from the University of North Carolina at
Greensboro.
Geneen
Clinkscales
Geneen Clinkscales is the Educational Technology Librarian at James
B. Duke Memorial Library, Johnson C. Smith University. She received
a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems from
Hampton University, Hampton, VA, and a Master of Library Science
degree from Wayne State University, Detroit, MI. Prior to coming to
JCSU, Geneen served as a Media Specialist in Charlotte Mecklenburg
Schools.
Wanda Brown
Wanda K. Brown is Associate Director of the Z. Smith Reynolds
Library at Wake Forest University. Brown was formerly head of
technical and access services at the same library. She is a graduate
of Winston-Salem State University with a master’s degree from the
University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Ms. Brown joined the Z. Smith Reynolds Library in 1977 as a library
technician and rose through the ranks as cataloger, assistant head
of cataloging, head of cataloging and team leader for technical
services to her current position. She is currently chair of the finance committee and chair-elect of
the Library Administration and Management Section of the North
Carolina Library Association, and President of the Black Caucus of
the American Library Association.

Brenda Almeyda
Brenda Almeyda is the Information
Literacy and Reference Librarian
for the James B.
Duke Memorial Library of Johnson C. Smith University.
She received her Bachelor of Arts in Mass Media Communications from
the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and her M.L.I.S. from
the University of North Carolina at Greensboro’s School of
Information and Library Science. Prior to joining JCSU, she worked
as the media assistant at Olympic High School in Charlotte.
